The move would not be surprising since Foster is coming off a torn Achilles tendon in October and scheduled to be paid just under $9 million against the salary cap.
Foster, 29, is entering the final year of his contract which calls for a non-guaranteed base salary of $6.5 million. Recovery times vary, but 9-12 months is the projected timeframe for Foster, the report said.
He’s the franchise’s all-time leader in rushing yards (6,472) and touchdowns (54).
