With the successful release of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion, the series has gotten new life on modern consoles and received more fanfare from old and new audiences alike. With Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s second chapter, entitled Rebirth, seemingly giving the character Zack Fair an important role, this wave of releases should be well-received.

As tweeted by Square Enix Official Goods, Artnia celebrated its 10th anniversary on December 22, 2022, and with it came a special gift from Tetsuya Nomura himself—artwork displaying three characters from the Square Enix catalog. As mentioned, with Zack Fair playing an important role in Final Fantasy 7 moving forward, it seems befitting that he be chosen to represent the franchise in this work of art—especially as the drawing also celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Final Fantasy 7 franchise.

However, Zack Fair isn’t the only character being celebrated and featured in the drawing. With the whole Final Fantasy franchise celebrating its 35th anniversary, Jack Garland from Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin was also included in the art. Fans may remember that game as a successful alternate universe prequel to the original Final Fantasy, hence, why he also fits the bill in representing the franchise. Also depicted in the art is Brain from Kingdom Hearts Union Cross—with the Kingdom Hearts franchise also celebrating its 20th anniversary. The trio was chosen to represent their respective franchises in this beautiful illustration that is definitely one of a kind.

As previously stated, Zack Fair seems to play a pivotal role in the updated Final Fantasy 7 Remake so all eyes will be on him until Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth releases. With this artwork depicting multiple anniversary celebrations, it feels just right to pick characters who will be important to the franchise lore moving forward—especially since Zack will be one of the biggest characters moving forward out of the three shown in the art piece.

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
