Paper Mario: The Origami King released earlier this month on July 17 to a majority of positive reviews, despite abandoning more classic RPG-based mechanics for a more puzzle-like twist. While the game doesn’t quite live up to the hype of the original game or Thousand Year Door, many reviewers have stated that it is a vast improvement over the past couple of entries in the series.

Now players can take their planar, puzzle-solving, plumber pal into a new peculiar puzzler with the 15th Maximus Cup in Tetris 99. The event will start on July 31 at 12 am PST and will run through August 3. As per usual with Maximus Cups, players will need to accumulate 100 event points to unlock the exclusive Paper Mario: The Origami King theme.
Tetris 99 continues to be one of the best things about the Nintendo Online Service. With constant updates, a large player base, and an entry fee of $0, it’s easy to see why the classic puzzle game with a modern multiplayer twist has increased the overall value of the Nintendo Online Service since it launched. Hopefully, players will enjoy this event just as much as they have been enjoying Paper Mario.
