It’s worth noting Owens ran a 4.63 at the 1996 NFL Combine, so unless he’s gained speed with his age, that 40-yard dash claim is extremely bold.

Outside of that, could Owens still play at 43? Possibly. He’s in great shape, better than most 43-year-olds, but he probably wouldn’t be able to produce as much as he’d have to be worth for a team to take him. Not only is he 43, but he’s also been out of the league for seven years.

If not for Owens’ perceived off-field image, he certainly should have played more seasons in the NFL than he did. But at a certain point, it’s a good time to call it quits.
