Terraria is often touted as a 2D Minecraft due to its procedurally generated environments and mining, crafting, and exploration gameplay elements, although there is a lot that sets Terraria apart from Mojang’s blocky sandbox game. Terraria features numerous challenging boss fights that can be tackled with an enormous arsenal of weaponry, and Terraria’s focus is on creating a memorable adventure for players as they explore the world and progress through the game’s increasingly difficult combat. The game also features dozens of unique NPCs that provide various services to players once they’ve been given a place to live.

Re-Logic has announced a partnership with 50 Amp Productions in the creation of a full-fledged graphic novel series taking place in the Terraria universe. Each Book in the graphic novel series will contain four parts, with the cover art for Terraria - Book One, Issue One completed and revealed in the announcement. Re-Logic has been playing an active role in the graphic novel’s development, from the script to line art and coloration, ensuring that the graphic novels will stay true to the Terraria experience. Book One in the series is near completion, and Re-Logic plans to roll out issues one through four as standalone items that will come with some special collectibles.
Terraria is an open-ended adventure where every player’s experience is different, and that’s something Re-Logic has acknowledged in the upcoming graphic novel series. The story told in the graphic novels will be an example of just one of many possible experiences, though Re-Logic insists that this particular story “is a pretty good one.” Re-Logic is also looking to the future beyond the graphic novel series, entertaining the idea of potentially adapting Terraria into a streaming series or some other form of media.
The first issues in the Terraria graphic novel series are expected to kick off in Q3 of 2022, with the full Book One becoming available sometime in early 2023. Work on Book Two will begin after Book One is fully released, with future Books planned for later on. Terraria appears to be blossoming into a full-blown multimedia franchise and has even had a Terraria/Don’t Starve crossover. It will be interesting to see how Terraria grows and if the streaming adaptation ends up becoming a reality.
Terraria is available now on Android, iOS, PC, PS3, PS4, PS5, PS Vita, Nintendo DS, Nintendo Switch, Wii U, Stadia, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
