This of course has a multitude of uses, but there are some pitfalls to it as well. For one, these potions can only be dropped or found while on a multiplayer session, making farming them in single player impossible. Furthermore, Terraria doesn’t quite explain how to use them entirely well.

Despite being a consumable like other potions, players can’t use it in the traditional way. Instead, the player will need to open the map and find a friend’s icon on the map. Clicking on this icon will consume the potion and teleport the player to that location.

Obtaining the Wormhole Potion isn’t entirely difficult, and there are multiple ways to do so. As mentioned above, it is impossible to find a Wormhole Potion in single-player, but it can still be crafted. The recipe requires bottled water, a Spectacular Fish, and Blinkroot, and will yield one Wormhole Potion. The Spectacular Fish can be found in Forest and Snow biomes by fishing underground, while Blinkroot is can be found commonly and is used in many potions. Beyond crafting, the player can find these potions as long as they are in a multiplayer world (it doesn’t matter if they are the only one in it). The best way to find them is to break pots and kill slimes.

The Wormhole Potion has a multitude of uses, and a lot of great ones outside the obvious implications. For starters, long distances can be travelled using the potion, making it ideal if a player and their friend somehow get separated. That said, the most competitive use of this item is during Terraria’s boss fights. Rather than having to travel long distances to rejoin a boss fight after dying, the Wormhole Potion lets players jump right back in immediately, even against bosses that are difficult to reach normally.

This item will prove to be an incredibly useful tool in players’ arsenals, and it is well worth the time to farm and craft some of these if one plans on playing multiplayer a lot. Just be sure to remember to use them from the world map rather than from the inventory.

Terraria is available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
