Two years ago it was revealed that Telltale was developing a Stranger Things game. Although the license seems like a perfect fit for the adventure game developer, Telltale went through its massive lay-offs soon after, and therefore the project was canceled. Two individuals who worked on the composition for the project have since come forward about their work on the game, and in fact, they’ve released their music for free.

Animo and Welles are composers who previously worked with Telltale on Minecraft Story Mode, The Walking Dead Season 2, and Wolf Among Us, which is seeing a sequel in the near future. According to a YouTube video and Patreon post, the two worked on the soundtrack for Stranger Things, but never even got paid. The music has been released on YouTube for free, with options for individual tracks through Patreon.

The video is eerie and well made, telling the story of the two composers in a very “Stranger Things” sort of way. The music seems to fit right in with what Telltale was creating with a game based on the Stranger Things license. It is an unfortunate situation all around that the game never came out, and Animo and Welles were allegedly never paid for their work. At least for fans, however, they still got to hear the music and get a taste of this product, even if it is long gone and likely to not return.
