Jordan Stevens and his four-month pregnant wife, Aileen, were travelling along I-24 in their Ford Mustang when they were carjacked by 29-year-old Dangelo Dorsey who ran up to them brandishing a gun and took them hostage. Unknown to the couple at the time, Dorsey had already shot and killed one person and opened fire on other drivers when he targeted them on Sunday morning. According to local media, police said Dorsey ordered them to drive to their home in Morrison, Tennessee where they switched vehicles and Stevens was shot in front of his terrified wife and his body dumped having rejoined the I-24 in Coffee County....

Supporters of the bill said that it was originally written to provide a separate pathway to marriage for only opposite-sex couples other than what is legally recognized in the state, out of objections that same-sex marriages have the same legal process and rights as traditional marriages. However, the bill drew national attention and outrage over the fact that did not list an age minimum for marriage, which critics said could open the possibility of abusers using the process to disguise child abuse as a common-law marriage....

It was not the grand slam title he wants most but the next best thing and it felt like a breakthrough moment for a player widely perceived as one of the game’s under-achievers. He played calmly and intelligently to beat Belgium’s David Goffin 7-5 4-6 6-3 in a superb climax to the season....

The top seed, given a bye in the first round, raced out of the blocks at the WTA Premier hard-court event in Paris to win 6-0, 6-1 in 72 minutes. Hantuchova was only able to win nine points in the opening set as Sharapova swept her aside. The proposal to overhaul the current calendar-year format of the 118-year-old event is being discussed this week at the International Tennis Federation conference in Orlando, Florida, with the vote set for Thursday. If approved, 18 nations would play in a weeklong, World Cup-style event at the end of the year. The original proposal has been amended after some countries — with Australia being one of the most vocal — objected to simply an 18-team tournament at a neutral site, largely because of the loss of home matches....

The 25-year-old’s previous deal was due to expire in 2019, but he is now set to sign a three-year extension on Tuesday. The Germany international’s new contract includes a €180million buyout clause. Ter Stegen joined Barcelona from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2014 and initially had to settle for a role as deputy to Claudio Bravo, although he was the Catalans’ number one in the Champions League and Copa del Rey....
